Dr Vandana Das
With profound sadness, we announce our grief at the passing of Dr Vandana Das, a young lady intern who tragically lost her life in a senseless act of violence on 10th May 2023. Dr Vandana was a bright and promising intern who had just begun her career in medicine. She was loved and respected by everyone who had the pleasure of working with her, and her kind heart and infectious smile will be deeply missed.
Dr Vandana’s death was the result of an act of violence while she was on duty in the hospital emergency room.
Her loss has left a profound impact on the entire medical community, and we are all left grappling with the magnitude of this tragedy. Her untimely death is a devastating loss for her family, friends, and colleagues. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr Vandana’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We offer our deepest condolences and stand with them in grief and solidarity.
We also sincerely express our hope that this tragedy will trigger a much-needed improvement in the system and put and end to the escalating incidents of violence against the medical community. It is high time that we prioritize the safety and security of the medical community. Acts of violence against healthcare providers are unacceptable and have no place in our society. We must work together to ensure that healthcare workers can perform their vital duties without fear of harm or intimidation.
